Filipinos who meet specific eligibility criteria will continue to enjoy relaxed visa document requirements when applying to visit South Korea, after the South Korean Embassy in the Philippines confirmed that its “simplified” visa processing scheme has been extended until December 31, 2026.
The program, which began in January 2024, allows qualified applicants to skip submitting financial papers such as bank statements, bank certificates, and income tax returns. However, they must still provide core visa documents including a valid passport, a passport-sized photo, application forms, and employment certification.
The exemption applies to selected public officials and professionals, along with certain credit card holders from major Philippine banks, as well as their immediate family members, provided they submit documents proving the relationship.
Officials covered include Senators, Members of Congress, Governors, Provincial Board Members, and Mayors, along with their parents, spouses, minor children, and student-dependents. High-ranking government leaders with a rank of Assistant Secretary or higher in the executive branch, and Brigadier Generals in the military or police, may also apply under the simplified process, excluding those in acting roles. They must present an original certificate of employment that clearly states their agency, tenure, position, and salary.
Licensed professionals such as doctors, dentists, lawyers, prosecutors, judges, certified public accountants, pharmacists, and veterinarians only need to present a Professional Regulation Commission ID or Integrated Bar of the Philippines card, plus documents confirming family ties for accompanying dependents.
Primary cardholders of qualified premium credit cards from BDO, BPI, RCBC, Metrobank, and PNB are likewise eligible. They need to attach a copy of the card and recent credit card statements, along with proof of relationship for family members traveling under the same exemption.
The embassy emphasized that travelers may still opt to submit financial records if they believe it will strengthen their application, and reminded the public that all other standard requirements remain in place for every applicant.
