Ten passengers required medical assistance after a Swiss Airlines flight made an emergency landing in Graz, Austria, due to smoke detected in the cockpit and cabin.
The Airbus 220-300 was en route from Bucharest to Zurich with 74 passengers and five crew members when engine issues prompted the diversion. One cabin crew member was airlifted to a hospital via helicopter, with their condition yet to be confirmed. Four other crew members also received medical treatment on-site.
Swiss Airlines expressed deep concern and extended sympathies to those affected, stating, “We remain in close contact with local authorities to investigate the incident and plan further actions.”
The emergency forced the temporary closure of Graz Airport while the plane remained on the runway. Investigations into the cause of the incident are ongoing.
