Smartphone enthusiasts in the UAE can rejoice as the newly launched Samsung Galaxy S24 is set to hit the shelves, bringing with it significant price drops for older models of the Galaxy series. The S24, packed with AI capabilities, was globally launched on January 17, and pre-orders have already begun for eager shoppers in the UAE.
Retailers across the country anticipate substantial reductions in prices for previous Galaxy models, including the S23, ranging from 10% to 38%. Customers can expect to get their hands on the highly-anticipated S24 devices starting from January 31.
Vikas Chadha, CEO of Jumbo Group, stated in a Khaleej Times report, “The S23 series is expected to retail at a 35-38 per cent discount over its launch time prices once the S24 hits the UAE market next week.” This significant price drop may prompt competitors to adjust the prices of their flagship and mid-range devices to remain competitive.
Nilesh Khalkho, CEO of Sharaf DG, believes that the previous Galaxy S series model will witness a Dh300-400 price reduction, and he emphasized that the impact of the S24 launch will mainly affect the pricing of its predecessor, the S23.
Meanwhile, electronics retailer ECity expects a more moderate price drop of up to 10% for previous Galaxy models. Rajat Asthana, COO of Eros Group, echoed this sentiment, foreseeing an approximately 10% price decrease for previous Galaxy S series models, asserting that the introduction of new S series models is unlikely to significantly impact pricing in other Samsung series.
The Galaxy S24 comes with price ranges depending on storage capacity, starting from Dh3,199 to Dh6,599. Vikas Chadha noted that the S24 Series is slightly pricier than the S23 Series, mainly due to the inclusion of generative artificial intelligence features called Galaxy AI. However, industry experts believe that the S24 is competitively priced when considering its unique specifications and AI capabilities.
According to Asthana, the Galaxy S24’s introduction of AI capabilities, an enhanced camera, and improved photo editing features positions it as a compelling choice for consumers in the UAE, likely surpassing its predecessor in terms of sales and popularity.
