Smart gates installed on Dubai-Hatta road to enhance safety

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has installed smart electronic gates on the Dubai-Hatta road and other key desert routes, aiming to improve traffic flow and reduce accidents caused by stray animals crossing the road.

The RTA made the announcement on Monday through a post on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting the initiative as part of its commitment to enhancing road safety across the emirate. Additional gates are planned for installation in various areas throughout 2025 as part of the authority’s future development plans.

Similar measures are being implemented in other emirates, such as Ajman, where an AI-powered smart monitoring system was introduced on October 1. This system, deployed at 26 locations, targets traffic violations like mobile phone use and seatbelt non-compliance, further boosting safety for road users.
