Abu Dhabi Police are cautioning drivers about the penalties of driving slowly in the fast lanes, noting it can lead to traffic obstructions and serious accidents.
Those who fail to give way to vehicles that have priority from behind or from the overtaking lane will be fined Dh400.
The police have emphasized the importance of safe driving habits, advising against overtaking from the right due to its potential in causing severe accidents, sometimes resulting in fatalities.
Furthermore, the emirate has set a minimum speed of 120kph for the fast lanes on major roads to help reduce traffic mishaps.
In addition, tailgating, or failing to maintain a safe distance between vehicles, is also a punishable offence.
Tailgating radars in Abu Dhabi are designed to detect and fine both the front and rear vehicles if they are on the fast lane.
However, the tailing vehicle will also receive four black points.
