Slater Young’s latest real estate endeavor, The Rise at Monterrazas, has clinched the prestigious Architizer A+ Jury award earlier this week. The former Pinoy Big Brother Big Winner expressed his delight on Instagram following the win.
The Architizer A+ Awards, recognized as the largest awards program dedicated to celebrating the best architecture and spaces globally, honored The Rise at Monterrazas in the Residential > Unbuilt – Multi-Unit Housing (L >10 Floors) category. This project triumphed over numerous entries from more than 80 countries worldwide.
“This award definitely hits different. The Rise at Monterrazas was competing against world-class projects from over 80 countries across the globe. To come out on top with the Architizer A+ Jury Award is a great honor,” Slater wrote.
The 40-year-old engineer highlighted the significance of the win for everyone involved in the project. He emphasized that this victory is not only for their team but also for showcasing Filipino talent on the global stage.
“This award was given by Architizer’s illustrious international jury, comprising architects, designers, and leaders. It’s a well-deserved win by the people who put their heart and soul into this project – the architects, designers, and the entire team behind The Rise at Monterrazas. Nakaka proud to help place Filipino design in the international spotlight,” he added.
The project was conceptualized by Slater and LLG Architects, an architectural designer company based in Cebu City.
Initially, the project faced mixed reactions, with some netizens questioning its sustainability. Slater revealed that they went through about 300 revisions and consulted with sustainability experts to ensure the best practices were followed.
“We wanted it to be architecturally forward, something that Cebu or the Philippines has never seen before. We wanted it to be not just maganda tingnan but very, very usable din and may added benefit to the user. And lastly, because we are building on the mountainside, we want the project to be as sustainable as possible,” he previously shared.
