Sheikh Mohamed and UAE Rulers share iftar at historic site of nation’s founding

President Sheikh Mohamed joined fellow UAE Rulers for an iftar gathering on Tuesday at Sheikh Zayed’s farm in Al Khawaneej, Dubai — a location now officially recognized as a national landmark for its role in the country’s formation.

The farm is historically significant as the place where, in March 1971, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the other Rulers met over two weeks to discuss and finalize plans for the unification of the Emirates. These talks led to the signing of the Union Pact and the creation of the UAE later that year.

In a post on X, Sheikh Mohamed reflected on the farm’s importance, noting that it now joins Union House and Arqoob Al Sedira as key sites tied to the nation’s founding.

Joining the UAE President for the iftar were Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, and Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi. The gathering was also an opportunity for the leaders to exchange Ramadan greetings.
