Sharjah Ruler increases compensation for April rain-affected houses to AED50,000

The Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, announced today that the compensation for homeowners whose properties were damaged by the heavy rains in April has been increased to Dh50,000.

As reported by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, a total of 618 affected cases have already benefited from this compensation. Sheikh Sultan has approved a total of Dh15,330,000 for this purpose and directed the Sharjah Social Services Department to distribute the funds immediately.

In response to the severe rainfall, which was the heaviest the UAE has seen in 75 years, the Sharjah Executive Council had earlier implemented enhanced safety measures and developed proactive plans for future emergencies. Homeowners affected by the rains were informed that they could apply for aid through the Sharjah Digital Platform, which would generate reports to confirm the extent of damages and facilitate the aid process.

Additionally, the council granted a one-month extension for the payment of renewal fees and penalties for commercial establishments impacted by the rains.
