Sharjah Police warn drivers: Using phones while driving can cost you AED 800

Sharjah Police are stepping up their fight against distracted driving with the help of smart cameras, warning motorists that using mobile phones while behind the wheel could result in an AED 800 fine and four black points on their license.

A recently released video highlights numerous violations, capturing drivers texting, making calls, and even recording videos while driving. Authorities stress that even a moment of distraction can lead to tragic accidents.

Sharjah Police took to social media to remind drivers of the dangers, stating, “Your safety and that of others begins with the right decision.” They continue to urge motorists to stay focused on the road and avoid reckless behavior.

In addition to phone-related violations, authorities are also cracking down on drivers misusing the hard shoulder to skip traffic. A previous video exposed multiple motorists engaging in this dangerous practice, which carries an AED 1,000 fine and six black points.
