Starting in early 2025, Sharjah Civil Defence will employ drone technology to tackle fires in high-rise buildings. The move aims to reduce firefighting response times and enhance safety measures using advanced, innovative methods.
The new drones, capable of reaching 150 meters in just 18 seconds, will be equipped with water tanks, thermal cameras, and the ability to spray water up to 15 meters. The drones are expected to improve efficiency in areas where traditional fire trucks may face traffic delays or access challenges.
According to a Khaleej Times report, two drones will be operational by the first quarter of 2025, with plans to enhance their performance by increasing the maximum height to 200 meters and incorporating additional firefighting materials such as foam and dry powder.
Brigadier Sami Al Naqbi, Director General of Sharjah Civil Defence, emphasized the cost-effectiveness and efficiency of the drones, highlighting their ability to prevent extensive damage and save lives by responding faster to fires, especially in high-rise buildings.
