A sudden and intense rainstorm at Six Flags Mexico caused a temporary halt in several rides, leaving some visitors stranded mid-air on August 18. Among the affected rides was the Sky Screamer, also known as the Supergirl Sky Flight, where passengers, including Omar Hernández Medrano, found themselves stuck with their feet dangling approximately 243 feet in the air.
“We went up Supergirl, and as it was underway, it started to rain and quickly got worse,” Hernández Medrano recounted, sharing footage of the severe weather. “As we were high up, with the rain and the ride in motion, it stopped, and we were stuck at the top for 10 minutes in heavy rain.”
The Sky Screamer takes riders to heights of nearly 243 feet and reaches speeds of up to 40 mph, providing panoramic views of Mexico City when weather conditions are clear.
In response to the incident, Six Flags Mexico issued a statement saying the storm led to the temporary stoppage of multiple rides across the park. “Unfortunately, the storm intensified during the evacuation process, creating some uncomfortable moments for our visitors,” the park stated.
Park staff adhered to established safety protocols, and all guests were safely evacuated without injuries. The ride resumed normal operations shortly after the storm passed.
