A significant number of flights, including a Manila-Dubai-Manila route, were canceled today, July 25, 2024, due to the severe flooding triggered by the southwest monsoon and Typhoon Carina.
Cebu Pacific announced the cancellation of several domestic and international flights. Among the affected international routes was flight 5J 018/019 between Manila and Dubai. Additionally, flights to Hong Kong, Taipei, Denpasar, Bangkok, Narita, Singapore, Nagoya, Incheon, and Haneda were also canceled.
Philippine Airlines similarly canceled multiple flights, including those from Manila to Quanzhou, Basco, Tuguegarao, and Davao. PAL Express flights from Davao and Laoag were also affected.
The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) issued an erratum indicating that some flights initially listed as canceled would proceed as scheduled. However, passengers were still advised to check with their respective airlines for updates before heading to the airport.
The cancellations come as the Philippines grapples with the widespread impact of Typhoon Carina, which has brought massive floods to several regions. Airlines have urged passengers with canceled flights to avoid proceeding to the airport to avoid congestion and inconvenience.
