Seven Filipinas recognized in Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Asia 2024 list

Seven Filipino executives have been included in the prestigious Fortune Most Powerful Women Asia list for 2024. The list features 100 influential female leaders from a wide range of industries across the Asia Pacific region, highlighting their achievements in business leadership.

Fortune noted that more than half of the women on the list are CEOs of companies in the Fortune 500 and Global 500, with 26 newcomers making waves in areas such as artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship, and financial leadership.

The seven Filipinas recognized for their accomplishments are as follows:

Martha Sazon, GCash president and CEO, ranked 38th. Sazon leads GCash, the mobile wallet service with over 94 million users, valued at $5 billion following a significant investment from Japan’s MUFG. The company is now considering a public listing.

Robina Gokongwei-Pe, president and CEO of Robinsons Retail Holdings, ranked 48th. She oversees a retail empire with over 2,400 stores nationwide, including supermarkets, department stores, and franchised drug stores such as South Star Drug and The Generics Pharmacy.

Lorelei Quiambao Osial, president and CEO of Shell Pilipinas, ranked 67th. Osial is the first female to head the company, appointed in December 2021. She also holds a global finance leadership position and has previously served in roles in the UAE and Iraq.

Anna Ma. Margarita Bautista Dy, president and CEO of Ayala Land, ranked 73rd. Dy took the helm in October 2023 and was previously listed in Forbes’ “Asia’s Power Businesswomen” in 2023.

Lynette Ortiz, president and CEO of Land Bank of the Philippines, ranked 82nd. Ortiz, appointed in May 2023, leads the state-run financial institution, which is focused on promoting rural development while ensuring financial sustainability.

Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso, president of Megaworld, ranked 85th. Alfonso, who has been with the company since its early years, took over as president in June after previously serving as COO and board chair.

Rhoda Huang, president and CEO of Filinvest Development, ranked 98th. Huang is the first non-family executive to lead the Gotianun family-owned conglomerate, which operates in industries such as real estate, hospitality, banking, and power.

This year’s list is led by Grace Wang, chairwoman and CEO of Luxshare Precision Industry, followed by Helen Wong, CEO of Oversea-Chinese Banking Corp. Group, and Makiko Ono, CEO of Suntory Beverage and Food.
