A 62-year-old woman was apprehended at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Wednesday after authorities found suspected shabu worth ₱13.76 million in her luggage.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) reported that the seizure happened during a routine security screening. Upon checking the woman’s hand-carry baggage, personnel found a box containing around two kilograms of a white crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine hydrochloride.
“Recovered from the suspect’s hand-carry baggage was a box containing approximately two kilograms of a white crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu,” the agency confirmed.
The woman, identified only as “Aida,” was scheduled to fly to Bacolod City before being intercepted.
She is now in PDEA custody and will face charges under Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
