Senator Hontiveros probes possible identity fraud of suspended Tarlac mayor Alice Guo

Senator Risa Hontiveros has raised serious doubts about the true identity of suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo, following revelations from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) records indicating the existence of another woman named Alice Leal Guo.

During the Senate committee hearing on the raid of a POGO hub in Bamban linked to Mayor Guo, Hontiveros pointed out striking similarities between the two Alice Guos. Both share the same birthdate, July 12, 1986, and birthplace, Tarlac.

“Is it a coincidence that there are two Alice Leal Guos born on July 12, 1986, in Tarlac? Is it a coincidence that this NBI clearance was applied for just a few days before the date of filing of the delayed registration of birth of the other Alice Leal Guo in Tarlac City? Or is this a case of stolen identity?” Hontiveros questioned.

The senator further speculated, “Has Guo Hua Ping assumed the identity of a Filipino woman and then nearly a decade later, ran for public office? Who is this woman named Alice Leal Guo but does not look like the mayor? Where is she now?”

Senator Sherwin Gatchalian presented records from the Board of Investments showing that a Guo Hua Ping arrived in the Philippines on January 12, 2003, at the age of 13. “Alice Guo might be Guo Hua Ping who entered the Philippines on January 12, 2003, when she was 13 years old. Her real birth date is on August 31, 1990,” Gatchalian stated.

Hontiveros has requested the NBI to compare the biometrics of Guo Hua Ping and Mayor Alice Guo to verify their fingerprints.

“Why would Guo Hua Ping need to steal the identity of Miss Alice Leal Guo if she already had a validly-issued investor’s visa allowing her to stay here?” Hontiveros queried.

The suspended mayor was unable to attend the hearing. Her lawyer, Atty. Stephen David, explained that she was ill and under stress.
