A tech-focused Facebook page has raised the alarm after Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa shared an AI-generated video on social media, sparking concerns about digital misinformation.
On Sunday, Dela Rosa reposted a video originally uploaded by the page “Ay Grabe,” which appeared to show children in man-on-the-street interviews speaking out against the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte. The senator captioned the clip: “Mabuti pa ang mga bata nakakaintindi sa mga pangyayari. Makinig kayo mga yellow at mga komunista!”
The post quickly gained traction, amassing over 11,000 reactions and more than 1,200 shares.
However, tech page EXE Tech Solutions flagged the video as AI-generated, emphasizing how easily even public officials can be misled. “EVEN SENATORS CAN BE FOOLED BY AI,” the page warned. “Kids, this is why you always have to be careful with the contents you share.”
They explained that advancements in artificial intelligence have made it increasingly difficult to distinguish real videos from digitally fabricated ones, especially when used in politically charged content. “It can be utilized in a propaganda machine,” the post added.
The group called for greater media literacy and encouraged people to sharpen their ability to detect digital deceptions. “Train yourselves to detect such deceptions. And after that, train others how to do it,” they urged.
