Security guard kills colleague in Antipolo over repeated tardiness

A security guard shot and killed his fellow guard after the latter arrived 30 minutes late for work, an incident that unfolded in a warehouse in Antipolo City.

As reported by 24 Oras on Monday, the victim was supposed to relieve the suspect from duty but had a record of habitual tardiness. This reportedly caused frustration, as the suspect had been working extended hours.

Antipolo City Police Chief Lt. Col. Ryan Manongdo said the suspect had already been on duty for an entire day and was growing impatient.

“The suspect told us that his co-worker was late almost every day,” Manongdo explained.

After the shooting, the suspect surrendered to the police at the warehouse. However, he claimed that his actions were also driven by a personal dispute.

“We were reprimanded, and he even threatened me and my family. I wouldn’t have minded if it was just me, but I didn’t want my family dragged into it,” the suspect stated while in detention, expressing regret over the incident.

Authorities confiscated the firearm used in the crime. Initially, the suspect was charged with homicide, but investigators are considering upgrading the charge to murder.
