Sebastian Duterte joins PDP, takes oath as executive vice president

Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte has officially joined the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP), the political party led by his father, former President Rodrigo Duterte. The younger Duterte took his oath before his father on Thursday night.

Photos of the event, shared by Senator Ronald dela Rosa, showed Mayor Duterte with his father, along with Senators dela Rosa and Robin Padilla, two of the three PDP members in the Senate.

In a separate post on PDP’s social media account, the party announced that Mayor Duterte has been appointed as its new executive vice president. The oath was administered by the former president, who also serves as party chairman.

“Welcome sa partido ng mga maisug, Mayor Baste!” PDP said in its post, referring to the party’s members as courageous individuals.

The post also mentioned that PDP national officers, including Executive Director and Membership Committee Chairwoman Astra Pimentel and Overseas Filipino Concerns Committee Chairman Coco Naik, were in attendance.

Robin Padilla previously held the position of executive vice president before being appointed as the party president.
