Colegio San Agustin (CSA) has addressed the bullying allegations made by actress Yasmien Kurdi, stating that the incident involving her daughter, Ayesha, has been exaggerated in the media.
In a statement signed by lawyers Joseph Noel M. Estrada and Willard T. Yung, CSA clarified that “there appears to be no bullying that happened on December 10, 2024.” The school emphasized that it acted quickly to resolve the matter among the students and parents involved.
The statement, posted on the school’s official Facebook page, urged Kurdi to cooperate with the ongoing investigation and to refrain from publicly discussing the incident. “We caution Mrs. Soldevilla to refrain from sharing information about the minor students as this tends to put them in a bad light,” the statement read.
CSA stressed the importance of maintaining the privacy of the minors involved, noting that public allegations of bullying could have unintended consequences for the students. The school emphasized that such incidents could disrupt the students’ learning and growth, urging the public to trust the school’s handling of the situation.
Yasmien Kurdi had previously claimed that her daughter Ayesha was targeted by fellow students for not responding to messages about a school Christmas party and that she was blocked in the classroom and denied food during breaks. The actress also accused one student of taking a video of Ayesha without her consent, leading to anxiety and paranoia.
Kurdi is set to meet with Department of Education Secretary Sonny Angara to discuss ways to address bullying in schools.
