P-pop sensation SB19 has released their much-awaited third extended play (EP) titled Simula at Wakas, a powerful seven-track record that the group describes as both a reflection of their beginnings and a bold leap toward the future.
Released at midnight on Friday, April 25, the EP marks the final installment in their trilogy, following Pagsibol and Pagtatag!.
“It’s our way of saying thank you and showing how much we’ve evolved. ‘Simula at Wakas’ encapsulates everything we’ve been through — struggles, growth, [and] milestones,” the group shared in a press statement.
SB19 emphasized that the project showcases their full creative involvement, with Pablo, Josh, and Felip contributing to songwriting and production. The EP features collaborations with renowned producers and artists, including Xerxes Bakker, Alawn, August Rigo, Simon Servida, and Josue of RADKIDZ.
“This is the first time [in many] years that every member has been this hands-on. Everyone was involved in conceptualizing, producing, and writing the songs,” they revealed, adding, “We held meetings almost every day to carefully discuss how each song would come together, from conceptualizing and message to planning how we could execute and promote the EP in ways we’ve never done before.”
The tracklist includes “DAM,” “Time,” “8TonBall,” “Quit,” “Shooting for the Stars,” “DUNGKA!,” and “DAM (Extended Ver.).” Among these, “Time” and “DUNGKA!” join “DAM” as the album’s focus tracks.
On the theme of impermanence tackled in “Time,” the group reflected, “Hindi naman kami forever SB19… Nothing is permanent in this world, even from where we are at this point. Time will run out soon. All we can do is try our best and make the most out [of] it.”
SB19 — composed of Pablo, Josh, Stell, Ken, and Justin — debuted in 2018 with the emotional ballad “Tilaluha” and has since become a household name in the global P-pop scene with hits like “Gento,” “What?”, “Mapa,” and “Bazinga.”
As part of their Simula at Wakas World Tour, the group will kick things off at the Philippine Arena on May 31 and June 1. They are also scheduled to return to Dubai in October 2025, although specific details regarding the date, venue, and tickets have yet to be revealed.
SB19 last performed in Dubai in April 2024 at The Agenda in Dubai Media City under their PAGTATAG! World Tour, where fans packed the venue and enjoyed special perks like soundcheck access and group photo ops with the band.
