A tragic incident occurred in Shariff Aguak, the capital of Maguindanao del Sur province in the Philippines, when a Saudi Arabian man was killed in a drive-by shooting.
Sulaiman Jamal, the victim, was traveling with his wife, Bainot, and her brother on a bustling road when two assailants on a motorbike tailed their car and subsequently opened fire. While Jamal lost his life, his wife is currently being treated for injuries in a nearby hospital.
Despite there being witnesses to the crime, Philippine police reported they were “afraid to talk.” The authorities have now launched a full-scale investigation into the incident.
Saudi media revealed that the couple had recently purchased a farm lot in the region and moved there in the previous year. The Saudi embassy in Manila confirmed they are closely monitoring Bainot’s situation and are in continuous contact with the local authorities about the incident.
