Filipino conjoined twin sisters Klea and Maurice Ann are set to embark on a transformative journey, as Saudi Arabia will fully fund their separation surgery at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh.
The twins, along with their parents, will travel to Saudi Arabia on May 17, 2025, where they will receive specialized medical care under the supervision of His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, a renowned leader in conjoined twin surgeries and Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center.
Ambassador Faisal Ebraheem Alghamdi, Saudi Arabia’s Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the Philippines, personally met with the family on Thursday, offering his best wishes before their journey.
This life-changing operation is part of the Saudi Conjoined Twins Separation Program, a humanitarian initiative that has successfully separated more than 140 conjoined twins from 27 countries since its inception in 1990. Klea and Maurice Ann will be the third set of Filipino conjoined twins treated through this groundbreaking program, showcasing the enduring ties between Saudi Arabia and the Philippines.
“Since its inception in 1990, the program has successfully performed over 146 separation surgeries for conjoined twins from 27 brotherly and friendly nations,” the Saudi Arabian embassy in Manila stated, emphasizing the Kingdom’s commitment to global humanitarian efforts.
The embassy highlighted that this initiative goes beyond medical assistance, reflecting Saudi Arabia’s dedication to fostering international cooperation in health and humanitarian causes, driven by the values of compassion and solidarity.
This upcoming surgery follows a similar successful procedure in June last year, where Filipino conjoined twins Ayeesha and Akhizah Yusoph were separated at the same medical facility.
