Saudi Arabia experiences freezing temperatures as polar wave intensifies

Temperatures in the northern and southern parts of the Tabuk region plunged below zero degrees Celsius on Friday, as a polar wave brought icy conditions to the area.

According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), images captured in open desert areas showed water ponds and basins freezing over, highlighting the severity of the cold spell.

The sharp temperature drop is linked to polar air masses moving southward from northern Europe, a weather pattern that frequently impacts the region during winter.

As a result, both actual and perceived temperatures have fallen significantly, transforming the landscape with frost and reinforcing Tabuk’s reputation for extreme winter conditions.
