As the Philippines marks National Disaster Resilience Month, Vice President Sara Duterte is urging Filipinos to take an active role in preparing for calamities—not just for themselves, but for their communities.
In a strong call for proactive involvement, Duterte encouraged the public to engage in simple yet impactful acts such as tree planting, joining clean-up drives, and building emergency kits at home. She also highlighted the importance of participating in earthquake drills, knowing the locations of evacuation centers, and using social media to spread preparedness information.
“Share awareness posts—your stories could save lives and inspire others to prepare,” she said in her statement.
Duterte also emphasized the need to stay alert and informed by enabling notifications from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
“Our preparedness for calamities is the foundation of our strength,” she stressed, underscoring that resilience begins with individual and collective readiness.
