Sara Duterte reveals Imee Marcos asked her to secure Bisaya vote in 2022 polls

Vice President Sara Duterte revealed that Senator Imee Marcos personally asked her to run as her brother Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s running mate in the 2022 elections, expressing concern that they would lose to then-presidential candidate Leni Robredo.

During a press conference on Friday, Duterte recounted her conversation with Senator Marcos after filing her certificate of candidacy for Davao City mayor in October 2021. “I was happy that she was honest enough to say, ‘Kasi matatalo kami ni Leni kung hindi mo dalhin ang Bisaya.’ It was very straightforward that it was all about winning,” Duterte shared.

In the same interview, Duterte also commented on the current administration, saying, “Hindi marunong maging presidente ang nakaupo,” when asked to clarify a previous statement. She emphasized that it wasn’t her fault they were on a “road to hell,” pointing out leadership issues without directly naming anyone.
