Vice President Sara Duterte made a brief stop in Paris on Monday (Paris time), where she was welcomed by overseas supporters before traveling to The Hague for the next leg of her foreign trip.
The gathering, called “Panaghiusa with VP Sara Duterte in Paris”, was held at the Trocadero, just a short walk from the Eiffel Tower. Organized as a picnic, the event drew members of the group “DDS Europe,” composed of Filipinos from France and neighboring countries.
Although the Office of the Vice President has yet to issue an official statement about her arrival in France, Duterte’s media team posted a promotional poster of the event on social media. Photos later surfaced on the “DDS EU” Facebook page, showing her posing with supporters against the backdrop of the Eiffel Tower. She was also seen granting interviews to two Philippine media outlets present in Paris.
In a post, the organizers claimed “thousands” attended, emphasizing their appreciation to participants and to the French police and security teams, particularly the Eagles Club Security in Paris. They also noted that Duterte shared updates about her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, who has been detained at The Hague since March. According to them, she said he is “making adjustments to his food and diet” while in custody.
The Paris event followed her recent trip to Kuwait. Organizers said Duterte confirmed her next destination is The Hague, where her father is currently being held by the International Criminal Court.
