With the 2028 presidential race still three years away, an early glimpse into voter sentiment shows Vice President Sara Duterte and former Vice President Leni Robredo as the top choices among Filipinos, based on a recent Tangere survey.
Conducted from May 20 to 21, the nationwide poll revealed Duterte leading with 29% support, buoyed by strong backing in Davao and Northern Mindanao. Robredo followed with 21%, drawing most of her support from Metro Manila and the Bicol Region.
Senator Bong Go, a leading figure in the 2025 senatorial lineup, secured 15% in the presidential preference poll. He was followed by Senator Raffy Tulfo with 11%, particularly supported in Southern Luzon. Rounding out the top five was House Speaker Martin Romualdez, who received 6%, driven largely by voters in Eastern Visayas and Northern Luzon.
The survey also mapped out notable second-choice preferences. A significant 60% to 70% of Duterte’s supporters listed Go as their backup candidate, while 45% of Go’s backers identified Robredo as their next choice — ahead of Duterte, who received 30%. Interestingly, Robredo’s own supporters also leaned toward Go as a second option, with 52% naming him.
In the early look at the vice presidential race, Senator Go again topped the list with 36%, particularly strong in the Visayas and Mindanao. Former Senator Bam Aquino followed with 26%, fueled by support from Metro Manila and the Bicol Region. Senator Tulfo placed third with 11%, while no other candidates reached double-digit figures.
The non-commissioned poll, carried out using Tangere’s mobile-based platform, surveyed 1,800 respondents across the country. It employed stratified random sampling with quotas based on region, yielding a ±2.48% margin of error at a 95% confidence level.
