Aisylu Chizhevskaya Mingalim, a 53-year-old Russian woman, has ignited a wave of controversy after marrying her adopted son, Daniel Chizhevsky, 22, on October 20.
The couple first met at an orphanage where Mingalim gave young Daniel singing lessons. She went on to adopt and raise him from the age of 14. Over the years, their relationship evolved into a romantic one.
In a statement, Mingalim said, “Our relationship is perfect. We can’t live without each other. We are on the same wavelength.”
However, following their unconventional wedding, child welfare officials intervened, removing the couple’s other adopted children – four girls and one boy. Mingalim, who also has a biological child from a previous relationship, expressed her determination to regain custody and move the family to Moscow for a new start.
“We want to live freely as one family,” she shared. The story, as reported by The Straits Times and The Mirror, has triggered diverse reactions across the globe.
