Rufa Mae Quinto breaks silence on fraud accusations: ‘I am also a victim’

Actress-comedienne Rufa Mae Quinto is set to voluntarily surrender following an arrest warrant issued against her for alleged violations of the Securities Regulation Code. Her lawyer, Atty. Mary Louise Reyes, confirmed the development in an interview with ABS-CBN on Monday evening, December 2.

The case stems from accusations linking Quinto to a fraudulent investment scheme tied to Dermacare, a company also associated with former actress and businesswoman Neri Naig-Miranda. According to the complainants’ lawyer, Quinto and Miranda allegedly solicited investments from 39 individuals without the proper license.

Atty. Reyes clarified that the charges involve 14 counts of violations under Section 8 of the Securities Regulation Code and not large-scale or syndicated estafa, as initially speculated.

Through her legal team, Quinto maintained her innocence, asserting that she has no involvement in any fraudulent activities. “I categorically deny these baseless accusations. If anything, I am also a victim and I am determined to seek justice,” Quinto said in a statement.

She expressed her commitment to clearing her name and emphasized her dedication to her career and values. “It is dejecting to see my name being dragged through the mud, but I remain steadfast and confident that the truth will soon prevail,” she added.

Quinto also addressed her followers on social media, thanking them for their support. “Salamat everyone for the love and support! Love is patient and kind… please be kind everyone!” she wrote on X.

As the investigation continues, no further updates have been provided on the status of Quinto’s co-accused, Neri Miranda. Both are expected to face the allegations in court.
