Dubai Metro is set to celebrate its 15th anniversary with a series of exciting events and exclusive offers. The iconic driverless train, which first began operations on September 9, 2009, is focusing on celebrating ‘Metro babies’—children born on the same date as the Metro’s launch.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced on Monday that some of these ‘Metro babies’ could receive academic sponsorships for higher education. To be eligible, students must be UAE nationals, born on September 9, 2009, and have a cumulative GPA of over 90 percent.
Additionally, all children born between 2009 and 2023 are invited to a special celebration at Legoland Dubai on September 21, 2024.
As part of the anniversary celebrations, UAE residents can enjoy musical performances by both Emirati and international artists at Metro stations from September 21 to 27. The festivities also include a chance to win discount Nol cards by finding a special code on the sticks of limited-edition Metro-shaped ice creams. Moreover, Metro-related souvenirs, limited-edition postage stamps, and special Nol cards featuring a design by Lego Dubai will be available.
