Speaker Martin Romualdez has called on over 100 members of the House of Representatives to unite behind the administration’s 11 senatorial candidates under the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas slate.
The meeting took place Thursday at the Imelda Hall, Aguado Residence in Malacañang, where Romualdez urged fellow lawmakers to double down on their support as the country approaches the 2025 midterm elections.
“We have to go the extra mile for them,” Romualdez said, rallying his colleagues to vote straight for Alyansa. He emphasized that the success of these candidates in the Senate is key to working in tandem with the House to advance the administration’s agenda for peace, stability, and progress.
He highlighted the influence of lawmakers in shaping public opinion. “The people listen to you,” he said, stressing that it’s time for representatives to show “clarity and conviction” in endorsing the Alyansa team.
Among the prominent House members who voiced their backing were Senior Deputy Speaker Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales (Pampanga), Deputy Speaker David “Jayjay” Suarez (Quezon), Deputy Majority Leader Janette Garin (Iloilo), Abang Lingkod Rep. Joseph Stephen “Caraps” Paduano, Ako Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co, and Agusan del Norte Rep. Joboy Aquino.
Romualdez reminded his colleagues that this is a critical moment to act. “Let us not be distracted by the noise,” he said. “This is not the time to sit back—this is the time to go all in.”
