Robin Padilla under red alert after online threats spark family concern

Senator Robin Padilla revealed that his security detail has been placed on red alert following the emergence of disturbing online content calling for him to be burned—an incident that has deeply alarmed his family.

In a Facebook post dated July 3, Padilla shared that the threats prompted tightened security around his movements due to the potential for exploitation by extremist groups. “There are stricter protocols on where I go, and until now, my security remains on red alert because, according to them, campaigns like this might be taken advantage of by terrorists,” he stated.

The senator said the issue was reported to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), and while his family initially planned to file charges against those behind the online posts, they eventually decided to forgo legal action.

“Our family agreed to file a case against those who spread and promoted this, but we ultimately decided to let go of the cyberlibel complaint because it’s not appropriate for a politician to be overly sensitive,” Padilla explained.

The alarming Facebook events titled “Burn Robin Padilla” surfaced after the senator made a controversial remark saying he would still “smell like Duterte” even if burned—an apparent expression of his loyalty to the former president.
