Richard Gutierrez embraces a new era on and off the screen

For many years, Richard Gutierrez has been synonymous with action-packed storytelling in Philippine television.

With his commanding screen presence, athletic skill, and unmistakable charisma, he has long stood among the country’s most recognizable leading men.

But beyond the thrill of high-stakes drama and physically demanding scenes, Gutierrez now finds himself defining success in a deeper way, through fatherhood, personal growth, and a renewed commitment to purposeful work.

As he prepares for another major television comeback, the seasoned actor is proving that real strength lies not only in action sequences, but also in responsibility, balance, and perspective.

Gutierrez is gearing up for a highly anticipated return to the primetime lineup through the upcoming action drama ‘Blood vs Duty’. The series pairs him with fellow actor Gerald Anderson, promising an intense and gripping storyline filled with thrilling action.

Production has already been underway for weeks, with the cast tackling challenging scenes that demand both endurance and discipline. For Gutierrez, the project has been as exhilarating as it has been demanding.

“I’m so excited, marami pa kaming mga eksena, gusto ko ngang ipakita doon sa teaser, I’m so excited to show people what we’ve done. Pero so far, teaser muna.”

While the actor is eager for audiences to see what the team has created, he also acknowledged the demanding pace of the production.

“We’ve done a lot of taping days already, we’ve done a lot of work.”

The action-heavy nature of the series requires long hours and intense physical preparation, but for Gutierrez, such challenges are part of the craft he has embraced throughout his career.

Despite the hectic filming schedule, Gutierrez remains grounded in what he considers his most meaningful responsibility, being a father.

He shares two sons, Zion and Kai, with actress Sarah Lahbati. Following their separation, the former couple has focused on building a co-parenting arrangement that ensures their children continue to feel supported and loved.

Gutierrez described the arrangement in simple yet reassuring terms.

“Okay naman, we have equal time with the kids.”

For the actor, fatherhood is not about grand gestures but about everyday presence, encouraging his children to stay active, pursue sports, and remain focused on their studies.

He carefully balances their interests, ensuring they enjoy recreational activities while maintaining healthy limits on gadget use. Through this routine, Gutierrez hopes to instill discipline, curiosity, and a strong sense of responsibility in his sons.

Beyond acting, Gutierrez has also stepped into a new role as the first-ever brand ambassador of the gaming platform KING.PH.

While celebrity endorsements of gaming apps have sparked debate online, Gutierrez approached the partnership thoughtfully, making sure the brand’s message aligned with values he could support.

“I think what’s important here is spreading the message and creating awareness to enjoy, have fun, but be responsible din.”

For Gutierrez, the key lies in promoting awareness and encouraging people to approach gaming with mindfulness and moderation.

When asked to describe the platform in just three words, he summed it up succinctly:

“Innovative, Entertaining and Responsible.”

His official introduction as the brand’s ambassador took place at a special event held at the Blue Leaf Events Pavilion. Among those present was his proud mother, Annabelle Rama, who joined the celebration of another milestone in her son’s career.

Over the decades, Richard Gutierrez has built an impressive legacy in Philippine entertainment. From memorable early projects such as ‘Mulawin’ to acclaimed action dramas like ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano’ and ‘The Iron Heart’, his career has consistently reflected dedication, versatility, and staying power.

Yet today, his story is no longer defined solely by fame or success on screen. Instead, it is shaped by the roles he plays in real life, as a father, a professional navigating change, and a public figure aware of the influence he carries.

With ‘Blood vs Duty’ set to bring him back to primetime action, audiences can expect the same intensity and star power they have always admired.

But behind every dramatic fight scene and heroic performance is a man who understands that the most meaningful victories often happen far from the spotlight, at home, with family, and in the quiet determination to live with purpose.
