Lawyers representing Rhian Ramos have begun preparations for both civil and criminal complaints against individuals accused of circulating defamatory content online, following accusations filed by her former driver.
In a statement, Kapunan & Castillo Law Offices confirmed they are building cases against those allegedly behind what they described as a coordinated effort to malign the actress. The firm said it has identified certain personalities connected to the posts and continues to track others amplifying the claims on social media.
Atty. Lorna Kapunan emphasized that being in the public eye does not erase personal boundaries. “Even if she’s a celebrity—a public figure—she has her own private life outside her show,” Kapunan stressed.
The controversy escalated after a driver using the alias “Totoy” accused Ramos, along with beauty queens Michelle Dee and Samantha Panlilio, of illegally detaining and assaulting him. He alleged that the incident occurred after he was confronted over the supposed theft of sensitive photographs belonging to the actress.
Counsel for Dee, Atty. Maggie Abraham-Garduque, rejected the accusation and pointed to travel records that she said contradict the timeline presented by the complainant. “Physically impossible and also incredible kasi based on the allegation of the driver, nangyari daw ‘yung alleged mauling and illegal detention from Jan. 17 to 19. So ‘yun ‘yung mga period na sinabi niya,” the lawyer said. “However, records would show na si Michelle Dee was in Iloilo noong buong araw ng Jan. 17, and she was able to go back to Manila only on Jan. 18.”
She added that the findings from the driver’s medical examination do not correspond with the injuries he described in his sworn statements.
Earlier this month, Ramos addressed the matter publicly for the first time, acknowledging the strain caused by the allegations while expressing faith in the legal process. “Well honestly, siyempre sino ba naman ang matutuwa. I can say yes, it’s in a way stressful pero I’m also quite confident na the truth will set us free,” she previously shared.
“I just can’t give so much details about everything because we might be waiting for a possible case or whatever. So, I can’t give too many details, but in the end, the truth will set us free,” she added.Rhian Ramos to file cases over alleged malicious social media posts
