‘Rewind’ set to premiere in the Middle East after smashing box office records in the Philippines

The Filipino Channel has excitedly announced the Middle Eastern premiere of the Philippines’ highest-grossing film ever, “Rewind”. The much-anticipated movie is slated to hit cinemas in the UAE starting January 25, with further details about specific cinema locations to be disclosed.

“Rewind”, which made a monumental impact during the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2023, has been officially crowned as the nation’s top-earning movie. The film’s success story is evidenced by its staggering gross income of ₱815 million as reported by ABS-CBN Film Productions, Inc. (Star Cinema), as of January 18. Moreover, the movie’s global revenue reached a remarkable ₱845 million by the afternoon of the same day.

The film’s storyline revolves around John, portrayed by Dingdong Dantes, a self-absorbed husband seeking to “rewind” and mend his marriage with his wife Mary, played by Marian Rivera. This pursuit unfolds with the assistance of a character named Lods, interpreted by Pepe Herrera, amid unforeseen domestic challenges. Directed by Mae Cruz Alviar, “Rewind” is a profound family drama and was one of the ten featured entries in the MMFF.

Surpassing previous record-holders like “Hello Love Goodbye” starring Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards (₱691 million), and “The House of Us” featuring Daniel Padilla (₱660 million), “Rewind” has set a new benchmark for the Filipino film industry.
