The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) has strongly condemned the recent act of cruelty against a stray dog named Tiktok, who was shot five times with homemade dart arrows in Murcia, Negros Occidental.
PAWS executive director Ana Cabrera stated that the organization is ready to assist in filing criminal charges against those responsible. The dog was rescued by Bach Project PH, a Bacolod-based NGO, but the perpetrators remain unidentified.
Several anonymous donors, along with Sen. JV Ejercito and Murcia Mayor Gerry Rojas, have collectively raised a cash reward, now totaling P65,000, for information leading to the suspects. Rojas, calling the act “barbaric,” has also offered free legal support to pursue justice.
Meanwhile, Sen. Grace Poe urged local residents to cooperate with authorities and animal welfare groups in identifying the culprits, emphasizing that those involved should face legal consequences. Poe has renewed her call for the immediate passage of a revised Animal Welfare Act to strengthen protections against animal cruelty.
Authorities continue to investigate as the search for Tiktok’s attackers intensifies.
