Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. has officially received the backing of the influential religious group Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) just days before the upcoming midterm elections, according to a report by Inquirer.net.
Revilla expressed gratitude to INC Executive Minister Eduardo Manalo and the entire religious organization, emphasizing that he would honor their support with unwavering dedication to public service.
“Thank you to Eduardo Manalo and the entire INC for your continued trust in me, in relation to your decision to once again support me to continue my desire to serve the people,” Revilla said in Filipino. “I will not waste your support and trust.”
A source disclosed to Inquirer.net that the INC has already identified its list of senatorial candidates to endorse, although the official list has yet to be made public.
Established in 1914 by Felix Manalo, the INC is known for its practice of bloc voting, where its members traditionally follow the choices endorsed by their church leaders. With millions of members nationwide, INC’s support is often considered a significant boost for candidates, particularly those vying for high-ranking positions.
