Residents in various parts of the UAE were greeted with cloudy skies and heavy rainfall, signaling the onset of rainy days following an alert issued by the meteorological department for unstable weather conditions across the country.
Early morning commuters traversing Al Khail Road in Dubai encountered heavy downpours, while the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) issued alerts for light rains in Barsha and light to moderate rains over the Expo area in Dubai.
Videos circulating online captured the intensity of the rainfall, with footage showing rains lashing over Dubai’s Al Quoz area at 6:45 am. Lightning strikes were also reported, including near Al Garhoud bridge, adding to the challenge for motorists navigating through the heavy rains.
In Sharjah, residents began their weekend under cloudy grey skies, a departure from the usual sunny weather. Despite the early hour, some ventured out to enjoy the breezy temperatures and breathtaking views brought about by the rainy weather.
The NCM continued to issue alerts for residents in parts of Abu Dhabi, where unstable weather conditions were first observed before spreading across the country.
As residents speculated about the impact of the rains on their weekend plans, the NCM forecasted partly cloudy conditions with intermittent rainfall, particularly in coastal and western areas. Light to moderate winds are expected, occasionally freshening, with the sea ranging from slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and slight in the Oman Sea.
Temperatures are anticipated to drop to 15ºC in internal areas while reaching a high of 37ºC, providing relief from the recent heatwave.
