Residents across the UAE experienced slight tremors early Wednesday following minor earthquakes in the Oman Sea, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).
The first earthquake, registering a magnitude of 3.1, struck near the coast of Ras Al Khaimah at 12:12 am. A second quake, with a magnitude of 2.8, occurred at 1:53 am. Both seismic events took place at a depth of 10 km and were reported to have “not had any effect in the UAE,” according to the NCM.
This recent activity follows a pattern of minor tremors felt in the UAE in recent months. Earlier in May, a 1.9-magnitude earthquake was recorded, causing slight tremors. In April, residents of Khor Fakkan also reported feeling minor tremors. Additionally, a 2.8-magnitude earthquake was recorded in January near Masafi, on the border of Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah.
