UAE residents who have lost, damaged, or had their Emirates ID stolen can now easily apply for a replacement online within minutes.
The newly launched ‘UAEICP’ app, developed by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP), offers the ‘Replace Emirates ID for Residents’ service. However, users must ensure they have an active residency file in the system.
For those who believe their ID has been stolen or misplaced, the first step is to report the incident to the nearest ICP customer happiness centre. This action ensures that the lost or stolen card is immediately deactivated, preventing misuse. The locations of these centres can be found at icp.gov.ae/en/customer-happiness-centers/.
If residents have a damaged ID, it should be brought to the centre. For lost or stolen IDs, a copy should be presented. If a resident doesn’t possess a copy, the ICP can provide an ID number confirmation or a duplicate of the lost ID, as mentioned on the official UAE government portal, u.ae.
When reporting the incident, individuals must carry:
- Original passport
- Recent coloured passport-sized photos (adhering to ICP guidelines)
- Valid passport copy
- Copy of the residence visa
Upon assessment, ICP officials may request additional documentation based on the specifics of the application and residency type.
