Five Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who recently returned home from Riyadh have publicly expressed their deep gratitude to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos for the financial aid and government assistance they received during their ordeal.
The OFWs, all employed as cleaners in Saudi Arabia for about seven to eight months, were unexpectedly displaced from their jobs without any explanation or formal notice from their employers. Their situation came to the attention of the First Lady during her visit to Bahay Kalinga in Riyadh on July 20, 2025, where she personally spoke with the distressed workers.
With the support of their families and help from the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) and the Welfare Office in Riyadh, the workers were eventually repatriated to the Philippines in July.
Now back home, the OFWs say they are hopeful for a new beginning and remain thankful for the government’s swift intervention and support at a time when they needed it most.
