Justice Secretary Boying Remulla emphasized that the immigration case against dismissed Bamban mayor Alice Guo should take priority over her other legal charges and that she should be placed under the custody of the Bureau of Immigration (BI).
In a press conference on September 11, Remulla stated that the BI should handle Guo’s detention once her pending cases are settled, citing her use of fraudulent documents, including a fake passport.
“This is a significant violation of the law, involving false documents and her attempt to pass as a Filipino,” Remulla explained.
Guo, who fled the Philippines in July despite an Immigration lookout bulletin, has been linked to illegal offshore gaming operations during her tenure as mayor in Tarlac. Remulla also warned of potential national security risks tied to such cases, hinting at a possible espionage angle.
