The remains of Marvil Facturan-Kocjancic, a Filipina allegedly killed by her Slovenian husband, arrived in Cebu on Monday, weeks after the tragic incident.
According to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), her body was repatriated from Ljubljana on January 24 through the efforts of the Philippine embassy in Vienna. DFA officials coordinated with Marvil’s mother to ensure the remains reached their hometown in Negros Oriental.
Marvil was reportedly killed on December 29 while on vacation in Slovenia. Authorities have identified her husband, Mitja, as the primary suspect, stating that the couple had an altercation before the incident. He is currently detained in a forensic prison in Slovenia for individuals with mental health conditions.
“The Philippine government will continue to monitor the developments of the case to obtain justice for the victim and her family,” the embassy assured in a statement.
