The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the completion of the Ras Al Khor Road Widening Project, expanding the road from 3 to 4 lanes along a 3-kilometer stretch in both directions. The road expansion work spans from the Bu Kadra intersection to the Al Khail Road intersection.
According to a press release by the RTA on Thursday, the collector roads for turns on Ras Al Khor Road in the direction of the Dubai-Al Ain Road will also be widened from one to two lanes by the beginning of April.
This project is part of RTA’s ongoing efforts to enhance Dubai’s infrastructure, particularly in areas experiencing rapid urbanization and population growth.
Ras Al Khor Road serves as a vital artery connecting numerous residential and industrial districts, accommodating approximately 650,000 residents and supporting various ongoing development projects.
Furthermore, the upgrade to the bypass lane towards Dubai-Al Ain Road is anticipated to double the capacity from 1,000 to 2,000 vehicles per hour, resulting in a 100 percent enhancement in vehicle flow.
