Residents across the UAE experienced a delightful change in weather as unexpected rains drenched various parts of the country overnight. The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) reported rainfall in major cities including Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah, turning the streets wet and dropping the temperatures.
The rains, ranging from light to heavy, began late on Wednesday and continued into the early hours of Thursday, following the Met department’s prediction of a surface depression affecting the country. The department further explained that an upper air trough would deepen on Thursday, increasing cloud coverage and rain, particularly in northern, eastern, and coastal areas, while also lowering temperatures.

Amidst the pleasant weather, authorities have been proactive in ensuring road safety. Dubai Police, on Wednesday, advised motorists to exercise caution during the rains, suggesting a reduction in speed limits and maintaining safe distances. The use of air conditioning in outer circulation mode was recommended to prevent windshield fogging, ensuring clear visibility. Motorists were also reminded to check their vehicle’s brakes after driving through puddles and to adhere to speed limits set by Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA).
Similarly, the Traffic and Patrols Directorate of Abu Dhabi emphasized the importance of abiding by safety regulations, avoiding reckless behavior, and respecting traffic laws during the wet conditions.
