Qatar extends validity of visit visas for GCC residents to two months

Qatar is preparing to roll out longer and more flexible visit visa options for residents of Gulf Cooperation Council countries, allowing stays of up to two months and enabling multiple entries. The change will take effect on Sunday, November 30, through the Haya digital platform, according to a statement released by Qatar Tourism.

The shift in policy comes as the country continues to position itself as a hub for sports, culture and entertainment in the region, particularly following the momentum of the Fifa World Cup 2025. The extended stay period is expected to make it easier for GCC-based travellers to move in and out of Qatar while attending major events.

Authorities noted that the Haya system remains a core tool for managing visitor movement during large-scale tournaments, including the Arab Cup 2025. The platform supports both citizens and residents of GCC states who intend to travel for matches, festivals or leisure activities.

Haya functions as an all-in-one portal for visa processing and event access, allowing applicants to file electronically and organise their itineraries through a single interface. The system also outlines the various visa options available to travellers: a tourist visa (A1), a visa for GCC residents (A2), an electronic travel notification visa (A3), a visa for visitors accompanying GCC citizens (A4), and a visa waiver application for US nationals (F1).
