‘Pure Energy’ Gary V proves the show must go on, declares he’s far from done

Despite a health scare just days before his concert, Gary Valenciano proved he’s far from ready to hang up his mic. Performing at the Smart Araneta Coliseum for the second night of his “Pure Energy: One Last Time” concert, Gary assured fans that his journey in showbiz is far from over.

On Friday, Gary fell ill, experiencing severe dehydration and vomiting, which cut his show short after just eight songs and landed him in the hospital. But the veteran performer pushed through, showing up on Sunday night with an IV attached to his arm and delivering a heartfelt performance.

“This is not retirement,” Gary emphasized during the concert. “There’s a reason the title is ‘One Last Time.’ It’s a continuation of what we started, and I believe there is so much more to come.”

The 60-year-old performer, who has been managing diabetes since his teens, leaned on his faith and family to keep going. His wife, Angeli Pangilinan, played a vital role in encouraging him to push forward. “She believed I couldn’t do it, but God can,” Gary shared.

Sunday’s concert was a testament to Gary’s resilience and dedication. From sharing the stage with SB19 and Gloc 9 to delivering soulful performances with Jay Durias and his children, the night was filled with energy and emotion.

Gary acknowledged the challenges of performing at his age but made it clear he’s still driven by a higher purpose. “For as long as this heart beats, I will keep uplifting, encouraging, and inspiring,” he told the crowd.

Ending the night on a reflective note, Gary declared, “This is not the final page of my book. I’m walking into new horizons with faith, energy, and hope.”

For fans, the message was clear—Gary Valenciano’s story is far from over, and he’s ready to take on whatever comes next with the same passion that has defined his 40-year career.
