Public transport use in Dubai surges during Eid Al-Adha with over 7.5 million riders

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) recorded a major increase in public transport ridership during the Eid Al-Adha holiday, with a total of 7.577 million commuters using various modes of transport across the city—marking a 14 percent jump compared to the same period last year.

The RTA noted that the surge in numbers reflects the effectiveness of their holiday transport operations, which offered a wide range of commuting options. The Dubai Metro alone served 2.786 million passengers on its red and green lines, while trams accommodated 119,917 riders.

Public buses also remained a key mode of transportation with 1.663 million passengers. Meanwhile, marine transport services—such as abras and ferries—were utilized by 307,684 individuals.

Dubai taxis carried the second-highest number of riders, serving 2.196 million commuters, and shared mobility services accounted for 504,159 passengers.
