PRP says Marcoleta mirrors Miriam Santiago’s ideals, names him Senate bet

The People’s Reform Party (PRP) has officially endorsed Sagip party-list Rep. Rodante Marcoleta for the Senate in the 2025 midterm elections, citing his alignment with the party’s core ideals originally championed by its founder, the late Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago.

PRP president Narciso Santiago Jr., husband of the late senator, expressed full support for Marcoleta’s candidacy, saying he exemplifies the reformist values that the party continues to uphold.

“Cong. Marcoleta stands for good governance and real change—values at the core of our party,” Santiago said. He also urged PRP members and candidates across the country to rally behind Marcoleta, stressing that “a united front is key to continuing the party’s legacy in national politics.”

Marcoleta was adopted as an official PRP senatorial bet last month. He is also running as a guest candidate under PDP-Laban, the party chaired by former President Rodrigo Duterte.

Vice President Sara Duterte has likewise thrown her support behind Marcoleta, appearing in a political advertisement that recalled how the congressman defended her office during House investigations into the Office of the Vice President.
