The National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) in the UAE has advised both private and government sector employees to work from home as the country braces for unstable weather conditions. This recommendation comes amidst the country raising its alert level and readiness to handle the inclement weather.
Following a previous storm on April 16, authorities are closely monitoring the impact of such conditions, prompting the closure of roads leading to valleys, flooded areas, and dams. Residents are cautioned to avoid mountain and desert regions as well as coastal areas over the next few days.
While the upcoming weather is not expected to be as severe as the April 16th event, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) warns of moderate to heavy rains, lightning, thunder, and possible hail across various areas.
In response, the NCEMA has urged adherence to guidelines and instructions issued by authorities and recommended distance learning for schools. Although the decision to implement remote learning is left to local disaster management teams, Dubai and Sharjah have already announced remote classes on May 2-3.
With varying intensities of rain observed over the past two days, the peak of unstable weather is anticipated on May 2 and 3, with Wednesday (May 1) possibly experiencing some rain and small-sized hail.
